Mega Lucario Needs Force Palm: Best Moveset, Raid Hundo and Counters

Here’s how to make your Mega Lucario hit like a truck in raids with one small but powerful change.

Mega Lucario at a glance

• Best moveset: Force Palm* and Aura Sphere.
• Ranking: the 2nd best Fighting attacker on Pokémon GO Hub (24.48 DPS), and the 5th best Steel attacker with Force Palm* and Meteor Mash.
• Raid hundo: beating Mega Lucario gives you a regular Lucario, with a hundo of 1544 CP, or 1930 weather boosted in Cloudy or Snow weather. It’s one of the best shinies, too.
• Solo: yes, it’s an easy solo.

Why Force Palm matters

Force Palm does about as much damage as Lucario’s other fast moves, but it builds charged move energy much quicker. That means you can use Aura Sphere more often, and Aura Sphere does huge damage.

The catch: Lucario won’t come with Force Palm. It’s a legacy move, so you need an Elite Fast TM to teach it. The good news is that Force Palm is one of the only legacy fast moves really worth getting, so there’s not much competition for your Elite TM.

Without Force Palm, Mega Lucario’s charged move charges much slower, so it doesn’t perform anywhere near as well. It’s still a great Fighting attacker, just not top tier.

How to beat Mega Lucario

Mega Lucario is Fighting and Steel, so Fighting, Ground and Fire attackers make it easy to defeat. It’s an easy solo with any good counters from those types.
