Privacy policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
MattSimplified is run by me, Matt Oxlade, as a sole trader in Brisbane, Australia. This page explains what information my website and tools collect, why, and what you can do about it. I keep it to the minimum I need, I don't sell personal information, and I aim to handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What this website collects
- Visit statistics. mattsimplified.com uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where in the world visitors are, what device and browser they use, how they found the site, and taps on links to Patreon. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. I use it to see what's useful, not to identify anyone. You can block it with your browser's cookie settings or Google's opt-out add-on. The same statistics cover my other mattsimplified.com tools, such as City Safari.
- The contact form. If you send a business enquiry, your name, email address and message are emailed to me through the email service Resend. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the form for spam first. I use your details only to reply, and keep them only as long as the conversation or my business records need.
- Settings in your browser. The site remembers small things like your light or dark mode choice in your own browser's storage. These never leave your device.
- Hosting. The site runs on Cloudflare, which keeps standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
Other services I link to
Videos on the site play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and only load when you press play. My shop at shop.mattsimplified.com runs on Fourthwall, so orders and payments are handled under Fourthwall's privacy policy. Patreon, Discord, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram each have their own privacy policies once you leave this site.
MattSimplified HQ and Google sign-in
MattSimplified HQ is a private business dashboard that only I use. It can connect to my own YouTube channel through a Google sign-in to read my channel's YouTube Analytics, such as views, watch time and audience retention, using the YouTube API Services. That access is read-only: HQ can't upload, change or delete anything.
- It only ever reads data about my own channel, which I use to plan my content. It doesn't collect information about viewers or anyone else.
- The sign-in is stored encrypted in private storage. The analytics aren't sold, shared or used for advertising.
- HQ's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
- Using the YouTube API Services means agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google handles data under the Google Privacy Policy. Access can be removed at any time from your Google account's third-party connections, which deletes HQ's ability to read the data.
Your choices
You can ask what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, using the contact form. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If anything here changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
