When did level 80 arrive?
The level cap went up from 50 to 80 on 15 October 2025.
What happened to the level 41 to 50 tasks?
The old level-up challenges for levels 41 to 50, including the infamous Team GO Rocket and Eevee tasks, were removed. New level challenges sit at levels 71 to 80 instead.
Did extra XP carry over?
Yes. If you were already at level 50, any extra XP you’d earned counted towards the new levels. Some players jumped straight to level 55 or higher and collected every reward along the way.
Rewards worth knowing about
- A free Master Ball at level 70. I got one when the new levels went live, and it was a nice surprise.
- The old level 50 rewards are gone. Items like the level 50 jacket were vaulted when the new levels arrived, so anyone who earned them before then has a forever trophy.
Leading up to the change, there was also free timed research worth 7 million XP to help players reach level 50 before the cut-off.
Matt's takeCongrats to everyone who earned the level 50 rewards before they were vaulted, you worked hard for that trophy. For everyone else, the race to 80 is on, and there's a free Master Ball waiting at 70.
