Kyogre Raid Guide: Best Counters, Hundo CP and Origin Pulse

Kyogre at a glance

• Type: Water, so it’s weak to Electric and Grass.
• Raid hundo: 2351 CP, or 2939 weather boosted in Rain.
• Solo: no. Usually a duo, and Blizzard Kyogre can need three trainers.

Best Kyogre counters

The top 10 on Pokémon GO Hub’s Kyogre counters list:

1. Mega Mewtwo Y (Psycho Cut and Thunderbolt)
2. Mega Mewtwo X (Psycho Cut and Thunderbolt)
3. Mega Raichu Y (Thunder Shock and Wild Charge)
4. Mega Sceptile (Fury Cutter and Frenzy Plant*)
5. Shadow Raikou (Thunder Shock and Wild Charge)
6. Zeraora (Volt Switch and Plasma Fists)
7. Kartana (Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade)
8. Mega Chesnaught (Vine Whip and Seed Bomb+)
9. Regieleki (Lock-On and Thunder Cage*)
10. Mega Manectric (Thunder Fang and Discharge+)

Any well levelled Electric or Grass attacker works well if you don’t have these.

Can you solo Kyogre?

No. Most Kyogre need two trainers, even with maxed attackers. Kyogre with Blizzard is the hardest version, and with level 40 attackers it can take three. Grab a couple of friends to be safe.

Is Kyogre worth raiding?

When I covered Kyogre’s return, it was the best non-Mega Water attacker in the game. Plenty has arrived since, but it’s still strong. On Pokémon GO Hub:

• Kyogre is the 9th best Water attacker with Waterfall and Origin Pulse* (16.04 DPS).
• Primal Kyogre is the best Water attacker in the game.

Like Groudon, Kyogre needs an Elite Charged TM to learn its special move, Origin Pulse*. Without it, Surf is the next best charged move, but Origin Pulse is better in every way.

Matt's takeKyogre is worth building, but you'll need to give it Origin Pulse to get the most out of it.
