How to Beat Eternamax Eternatus: Best Tanks, Attackers and My Team
By Matt · Published · Updated For Eternamax Eternatus, bring Steel and Rock tanks like Crowned Shield Zamazenta, Crowned Sword Zacian, Metagross, Omastar or Corviknight, and attackers with Dragon, Psychic or Ground moves like Eternatus, Latios, Metagross or Excadrill. My team is two Crowned Shield Zamazenta as tanks and one Latios as my attacker.

Eternamax Eternatus first appeared at most Power Spots as a six-star Max Battle on 23 and 24 August 2025, with a new limit of 100 trainers. It comes back in the Dynamax Trails event on 21 November 2026: see my Dynamax Trails event guide for the details.
The best tanks
Eternamax hits hard with Dragon and Poison moves, so Steel types are the way to soak up its damage:
- Crowned Shield Zamazenta using Metal Claw
- Crowned Sword Zacian using Metal Claw
- Metagross using Fury Cutter
- Omastar using Mud Shot or Water Gun
- Corviknight using Sand Attack
If you don’t have any of those, the easy one-star Rookidee Max Battles are a great way to get a Corviknight. Don’t overlook it!

- Eternatus using Dragon Tail
- Latios using Dragon or Psychic moves
- Metagross using Zen Headbutt
- Excadrill using Mud-Slap
No luck with those? Use attackers with Dragon, Psychic or Ground type moves.

Rewards
When Eternamax first appeared, beating it gave 25,000 Stardust, 50,000 XP, 70 to 140 Eternatus Candy and 40 to 60 Candy XL. That’s a lot of Candy to power one up fast.
Eternatus itself
Eternatus’s best moves are Dragon Tail and Dynamax Cannon*. You can’t remove Dynamax Cannon, but you wouldn’t want to anyway: it’s one of the strongest moves in the game. On Pokémon GO Hub, Eternatus is the 2nd best Dragon attacker and the 3rd best Poison attacker in raids, too.
If you get it from research or a GO Pass encounter, its hundo is 1898 CP.
