Spring Marathon 2026 introduced a new costume Pikachu that was set to be very rare. Here’s what the event included.
Dates
Spring Marathon ran from 12 to 18 May 2026.
Flittle and Espathra
Flittle and Espathra debuted. You could get Flittle from the GO Pass or 5km Eggs, and it took 50 Candy to evolve into Espathra. Flittle’s egg hundo is 401 CP.
The visor costume Pikachu
A new Pikachu wearing a marathon visor came from free Timed Research, and each account only got one. It could be shiny, which made a shiny one really rare.
GO Pass bonuses
- 2x XP from PokéStop spins
- 1/2 Egg hatch distance, which helped with those 5km Eggs
The GO Pass also had a pair of avatar shoes.
My opinion
I love new Pokémon, and a cheap evolution is always welcome. Flittle and Espathra aren’t very useful though, so they’re Pokédex filler. Egg debuts also aren’t something people love.
Matt's takeRarity is good for the game, even if it upsets some people, so I really wanted that shiny visor Pikachu if it was a one chance situation. I'd still have liked to see it in the wild or in extra Field Research too.
The visor Pikachu came back for a second chance in Summer Marathon 2026.
